USFS Grazing Program, Sheriff Allen will speak
The Stevens County Cattlemen’s Association will be holding their annual meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 5 at the Stevens County Sheriff’s Ambulance building (425 North HWY 395 in Colville) from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Several speakers will be featured at the meeting including U.S. Forest Service Range Program Manager Travis Fletcher who will discuss the impacts of the wolf population on grazing allotments on the Colville National Forest. A representative from Gallo Meats will also be present to explain their new USDA meat processing facility in Colville. Stevens County Sheriff Kendle Allen will also give a presentation on how to identify wolf depredation based on the nearly 20 wolf incidents Sheriff Allen and his deputies responded to this summer. The Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife has also been invited to attend the meeting and share information on the 8 wolf packs in the region.
